The Bureau of Internal
Revenue is an institution of service excellence, a partner in nation-building,
manned by globally competitive professionals with integrity and patriotism. They
were committed to collect taxes through excellent, efficient and transparent
service, just and fair enforcement of tax laws, uplifting the life of every
Filipino.
The
Bureau of Internal Revenue has different offices in the Philippines from
national, regional to district office. One of this is the District Office in Legazpi
City where they serve the people in the district of Albay. On the district
office they have different department including the Tax Service Section (TSS). It
was the first department that people would see upon entering the door of the
BIR Legazpi. In this specific department they were processing different
taxation documents. Document like the Certificate of Registration (COR) for
different kind of businesses, those new registered business and those
businesses that are to be updated. Aside from registration and updating
documents, they also process the documents for Authority to Print so that
businesses could print receipts for their businesses which includes taxes. This
department also was the one in charged for generating Tin numbers for
businesses, employees and for document purpose, where those registered tin are
the tin where taxpayers pay their taxes.
With
those transactions and document issuance that the TSS department are
generating, modern technology for them played a vital role, in order to ease
those works. Like in creating the COR, where at first they use type writers in
creating this document, but as time goes by the number of businesses in Albay
are growing in number which lead them to embrace the modernization of
technology. Now they were using computers and printers to generate the COR
documents. With the modern technology they can generate document as fast as
type writer or manual can do. But of course modern technology is not all about
advantages, it also has disadvantages like if electricity power is cut off,
most of the transactions are affected, because almost all of the modern
technologies now are electricity power generated. So evaluation is needed to
see how really modern technology affects the TSS department on its advantages
and disadvantages.
